World Book Day
At Yealmpton Primary School, we celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March by dressing up as our favourite book characters. Lots of effort was put into the children’s costumes and they all looked incredible, from the Queen of Hearts to Willy Wonka!
We started the day by welcoming our parents to share stories in the classrooms with their children. After that, the children were inspired to write their own alternative stories in the style of David Walliams. Key Stage 1 children read the book ‘There’s a Snake in my School’ and imagined what it would be like if they could bring any pet to school for the day. Key Stage 2 children invented their own version of ‘Gangsta Granny’ and thought about the interesting talents of their family members.
We were really proud of the children’s creative writing and their amazing artwork. Some of the children have already used their World Book Day token to add more fabulous books to their book shelves at home. Look at Year 4 in their colourful outfits and Mr Pepper, The Demon Dentist!
